Many people get confused with skin care creams, lotions and facial serums. To put it simply, serums have smaller molecules than creams, making them highly concentrated and extremely potent. Because of the size of their molecules, they are able to penetrate deep down into the skin. Creams and lotions on the other hand, have larger molecules, and are designed to care for the outer layers of the skin.
Why are serums and creams used together?
In short, serums and creams are designed to work together, which means when you use both, it’s like supercharging your skin, and results will be more obvious.
Do I need to use a serum?
The short answer is, it depends. If you have normal skin and feel like you just need a little hydration, then you can possibly make do with a good day cream. On the other hand, to address a specific skin concern, adding a serum to your daily routine may give you that extra needed boost!
It’s a great idea to look for power duos that are designed to work together, especially for problems like: Oily skin with loads of pimples; Oily T Zone; Skin that is super dry; Pigmentation starting to appear; and wrinkles.
Please keep in mind that serums and creams can be highly active, so it’s always a good idea to get advice from a professional therapist before you dive into unfamiliar products.
